The exam will cover chapters 4, 5, 6.1-2 and 6.4-5 of the textbook (Ross) plus the material on medians.
Mar 20: Homework 9 has been posted, due on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 3:20pm.
Mar 20: Quiz 3 will primarily cover the special discrete and continuous random variables, and the transformations of a single random variable (chapters 4 and 5 of the textbook, mainly Sections 4.6-4.8 and 5.3-5.7). Please make sure to bring your calculators with you as you may need them to use with the standard normal CDF tables.

Mar 9: Homework 8 has been posted, due on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 3:20pm.
Mar 8: During Wednesday's lecture, I incorrectly specified the support for a hypergeometric random variable X as 0,\dots,\min\left\{r,m\right\}. The correct support should be \max\left\{0,r-n\right\},\dots,\min\left\{r,m\right\}. The reason why possible values of X should start at \max\left\{0,r-n\right\} is because the number of white balls in the urn (n) may be too small to have no black balls in the draw. To guarantee at least r-k white balls in the draw, one needs to have at least n\geq r-k white balls in the urn, thus k\geq r-n.
Mar 1: Homework 7 has been posted, due on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 3:20pm.
