November

Nov 24 Schedule for project presentations has been posted. Your final presentation will be in the 15 + 2 format (15 minutes for presentation + 2 minutes for questions).
Nov 24 Solutions to all required exercises for Homeworks 1-3 are now available at BlackBoard Vista.
Nov 24 Project final report is due on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. It is to be submitted through BlackBoard Vista using Final Project Report. Please use NIPS style for your final submission (as mentioned on the project webpage). The write-up has to be no more than 8 pages long with possibly an additional page consisting only of references.
Nov 3 Special topic presentations will take place between Wednesday, November 17, and Wednesday, December 1.
Nov 3 Homework 4 has been posted. It is due on Monday, November 22, 2010.

October

Oct 15 Homework 3 has been posted. It is due on Monday, November 1, 2010.
Oct 15 Project update is due on Friday, October 29, 2010. Please see the guidelines for what to submit.
Oct 15 Lectures on special topics will start in about 1 month. If you have not done so already, please indicate what topics you would like to cover in your 25 (or 50) minute presentation. Topics are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis!
Oct 15 Machine Learning and Applications Seminar will have a talk related to graphical models on Thursday, October 21, 2010. The speaker will be Chris Raphael from IU School of Informatics. Please consider attending.

Sep 27: The guidelines for the preliminary project proposal have been updated. The project descriptions can either be emailed to the instructor or submitted through Blackboard Vista. They are due on Friday, October 1, 2010.
Sep 26: Homework 2 can now be submitted through Blackboard Vista.
Sep 26: Written part of Homework 1 has been graded, and the scores have been posted to Blackboard Vista.
Sep 24: Solution to Homework 1 has been posted on Blackboard Vista.
Sep 14: Homework 2 posted. It is due on Friday, October 6, 2010.
Sep 4: Assignment drop boxes are created in Blackboard Vista for both the programming and written exercises. See directions under the homework assignment and under FAQ.
